Halloween Costumes to Wear This Year

Updated: Oct 21, 2022

With Halloween right around the corner, the fun and stressful task of choosing the perfect costume begins.

So far 2022 has gifted us amazing shows and movies that serve as inspiration for this spooky holiday. Some may feel too old to dress up, but if you find the right outfit, it will change your mind. Looking for a cool, scary, funny or cute style then here are some costume ideas that will certainly receive compliments at a party or as you walk through the neighborhood.

“Stranger Things,” one of the biggest shows of the year, will be one of the hottest costume choices. With so much variety in characters there is an option for everyone. If you want something simple, then consider Will, Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Max or Lucas. Craving something new, then dress up as the leader of the Hellfire Club Eddie Munson. Going for the villain look, then make a spine-chilling impression with Vecna.

The highly successful film “Top Gun: Maverick” will without a doubt attract and inspire many trick-or-treaters this year. It is more appealing to them due to the simplicity of the costume and the movie's success. The flight suit look will require a green jumpsuit, black aviator sunglasses, military patches and black boots. If you prefer the bomber jacket look, then you will need a bomber jacket, a white t-shirt, boots, jeans and aviator sunglasses.

Austin Butler’s performance in “Elvis” has shined light on the King of Rock N Roll Elvis Presley. If you want to honor him, get a red scarf, a ‘50s wig, ‘50s rockstar aviator sunglasses, a white jumpsuit, black boots and a belt. If you have a significant other, you should consider Elvis and Priscilla. Either option is guaranteed to steal the show.

Marvel enthusiasts are in for a treat this year. Movies and shows including “Doctor strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Thor: Love and Thunder”, “She-hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Morbius” make for create costume ideas. Dress up as Doctor Strange, Thor or She-Hulk to become the hero of the community. If you want to give off a terrifying antihero vibe then get ready to transform into a vampire just like Morbius.

On the other hand, DC comics did not offer much, but they did not upset when it comes to a DC classic. They released “The Batman” which performed excellently at the box office. You can never go wrong with DC classics so consider dressing up as the Joker, Aquaman, Flash, Wonder Woman and, of course, Batman.

Get a pair of elf ears to become a silvan elf just like Arondir, a never-before-seen character in the “The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power” series. If you favor “Game of Thrones” then dress up as Rhaenyra, King Viserys or Daemon from “House of the Dragon.”

Want a more childish and cute idea, then think about Buzz Lightyear from “Lightyear”, Gru or Belle Bottom from the “Minions: The Rise of Gru” or even Red Panda Mei from “Turning Red”.

If you have siblings or friends, then consider the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus 2”. Just be careful not to cast a spell in your neighborhood. Scare the trick-or-treaters by dressing up as The Grabber from “The Black Phone” which is sure to attract the screams and tears.

Halloween is not only about the candy but also about showing off your creativity and spirit through your costume. So go all out and have fun.
