The 3 Best Florida Vacation Spots

With the end of the school year right around the corner, it's time to start planning summer vacations.

A lot of planning goes into vacations, some people might even start arranging theirs up to two years in advance. Just because you haven’t planned your summer vacation yet, doesn’t mean it’s too late.

There are lots of last minute plans that can be made going into the summer. Right here in Florida we have some pretty amazing places you can go. These are the top three Florida summer vacation spots.

The Florida Keys

One of Florida’s best vacation spots is the Florida Keys. All 800 Keys are located at the southernmost point of Florida. Some major locations there include Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon and Key West. Every key is amazing in its own way.

They are tons of tiny small towns on a bunch of little islands all connected by one major road/bridge. One thing that the Keys are known for is its lobster season. This comes around the end of the summer in late July/ early August. This is the season where it’s legal to go out in the ocean to catch lobsters.

Lobstering can get pretty serious. People wake up extra early on the first day so they can start hunting first thing in the morning.

Lobstering is like a fun little game. You either snorkel or scuba dive down (depending on the depth) in the water to find the lobster. They usually hide under ledges on the ocean floor.

The next step in lobstering would be to grab your tickle stick (just a long stick) and try to “tickle” the lobster out of their hiding spot right into your net. Lobstering is a great summer activity that you can do in the Keys.

But if you’re not up to lobstering, the Keys offers lots more, such as, beaches, boating, snorkeling, paddle boarding and amazing food. They also have some of the best sunsets you will ever see.

Orlando

One of many theme parks in Orlando is Universal Studios, which will have new features opening this summer like Dreamworks Land.

Orlando is the heart of Central Florida. With lots to do, Orlando is a pretty popular vacation spot around the country. One thing to do in Orlando is obviously to go to the theme parks. You could spend the day with princesses at Disney World or fight superheroes at Universal. You could even go to SeaWorld to play with animals.

Other than theme parks, Orlando has a lot to offer. There are lots of different resorts all over, along with great food options. Since Orlando is a bigger city, there’s a pretty big night life. On top of this, there’s lots of shopping to be done as well. Considering there are several malls and outlets, you’re definitely set for shopping.

New Smyrna Beach

The perfect place for a picnic and the sunrise is New Symrna Beach.

New Smyrna Beach might be a little familiar considering it’s right next to DeLand. Just because it’s close, doesn’t make it any less of an amazing vacation spot. This makes it easy to get to and nice to stay at for a couple nights.

The beautiful white sand makes for a perfect beach day, and Flagler Ave. makes for a great night out. New Smyrna Beach has great waves for surfing and great sun for tanning.

Though it is the shark bite capital of the world, many people enjoy the amazing things this small-town beach has to offer.

Florida is a pretty great place to live and to vacation. We have everything from theme parks to beaches and the beautiful ocean. Some of these amazing vacation spots should be next on your places to visit.
