FFEA Club is back at DHS!

The proud community of DHS is thrilled to have the club in order to cultivate relationships between our community, instructors and students. On Wednesday, January 24, FFEA held its first formal meeting in room 7-200.

FFEA, Florida Future Educators of America, was established and died out with last year’s graduating class. History teacher, Shelby Radford, club sponsor, decided to revive the club this year to create a strong student-teacher bond.

Radford wants to give students who may be considering education, pre-teaching opportunities that are both developmental and exploratory.

Introducing the 2023-2024 officers of the club, President Passion Bingham, Vice president Rihanna Cordova, Secretary Aleina Dyal, Treasurer Caroline Cantlay, Historian Jamil Cunningham and Parliamentarian Logan Joyce.

Bingham says she plans on establishing a solid foundation for the club going forward. Her plan for the club is to “grow in numbers and find a good flow to have a good rest of the year and leave the club with a good standing to continue in future years.”

Radford says, “We want to inspire young people to consider teaching as a career and provide members with knowledge and experiences that develop important transferrable skills.”

FFEA is excited to establish teacher and student-based service projects both here on campus and out in our community. There will be many opportunities for members of the club to work alongside staff here at our school.

Members of FFEA will meet like-minded students throughout campus, have the opportunity to serve and learn from others and form valuable relationships with staff members.

The range of programs and activities the club will organize on campus, together with the service projects they undertake, can be advantageous to other students. FFEA hopes to bring programs to guide new students on campus through a mentorship program.

The club hopes to accomplish many projects in the future such as “Adopt a teacher” Kindness project, monthly newsletter, “Helping Hands” for Teachers in May, Student-Student tutoring program, Community Homework Assistance Program and much more.

President, Passion Bingham, states “There are so many cute little ideas that we have that we’re going to be doing around the school like our first kindness project: adopt a teacher! We each choose a teacher to do kind things for throughout the week.”

This club will strengthen the bonds and connections on our campus. We are excited to see it return to our community.
